Soffiting the Eaves

Before we started working on the shingles for the gable ends, Graham had to finish the blocking. It needed to be done to give him something to nail the soffiting to.

Here he is putting up the first piece of soffiting. We are using the same boards as we used for the siding. This means we can use up most of the leftover pieces of longer boards that had to be trimmed to  be used for siding. Waste not, want not.

Graham’s Dad came up and lent us a hand.

Here’s the soffiting after being installed. We like it!

Building your own house or shop takes a lot of time and a lot of work – worth it, though, in the end. Read more about the Shop we are building, if you like.
