Our front room has now officially been taken over by plants. Not only are they in the living room, they’re also in the dining room. And in the nook I call my office. They are everywhere it seems and every couple of days I am finding myself trying to find more room upstairs, because more plants from downstairs need to be moved upstairs in order to find room under the lights to put newly planted trays. Confused? Understandable….here’s a look.
We’ve gone from this
It won’t be long now and I can start moving some of these seedlings down to the greenhouse. I have to be careful; our greenhouse is unheated. Although I can staple Remay up on the inside, it still gets very cool here at night. This weekend it is supposed to go down to 0C, and that’ll be a change after we have enjoyed sunny afternoons in the mid-20’s.
This is where it’s easy to make the mistake, thinking Spring is really here. Since we’ve lived here in the Cariboo going on 9 years already, I know that the weather can turn like a snap of the fingers. We’ve worked far too hard already this year to take a chance with the seedlings now. We won’t even be taking them to the market until later in May.
The other day I seeded zucchini, sunflowers and more beans. I think we are almost done with the seeding part. Which is good, because it’s getting close to planting time!
